Who Is Regional Cities Victoria

Victoria’s Regional Cities are the 10 largest provincial centres in Victoria. 

Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Horsham, Latrobe City, Mildura, Shepparton, Wangaratta, Warrnambool and Wodonga.

These cities are dynamic, thriving centres that are constantly growing and expanding.  While the cities are home to some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in Victoria, they can also count major Multinational corporations like Masterfoods, SPC Ardmona and Unilever as part of their community.

In early 2000, the local councils of these cities formed ‘Regional Cities Victoria’ to represent Provincial Victoria through a single voice.  
RCV works closely with the Victorian Government and other stakeholders to tackle issues of importance to provincial Victoria.

The Regional Cities of Victoria are Better for Business

RCV has long suspected that the regional centres have had a competitive advantage for business.  Overall lower costs coupled with a supportive local community and continuing growth are factors that the Regional Cities felt ‘set them apart’ from metropolitan Melbourne.

The ‘Benchmarking Regional Business Costs’ study released in 2006 confirmed this suspicion, highlighting the many advantages that each of the 10 Regional Cities offered over Melbourne.  Find out more about these advantages here

The findings of the report were so positive that RCV wanted to share them with the business community.  The ‘Better for Business’ campaign showcases each of the Regional Cities and their competitive business advantages to Melbourne business – aiming to help establish or relocate business in the 10 regional centres.
