RCV meets with Mathew Guy

Senior members of the Rabbinical Council of Victoria (RCV) Executive, met with Mathew Guy MP and David Southwick MP this week prior to Rosh Hashana.

Rabbi Daniel Rabin, Vice President of the RCV, expressed appreciation to MInister Guy and his staff for making time to meet the Rabbis prior to the Jewish New Year. "Matthew is a great friend of the Jewish community and Israel and has on many occasions made time to be a guest speaker at various congregations in Melbourne. He was very thankful for the gift we presented to him this year and it appears he had been practicing his Shofar blowing skills since last year's meeting as he performed a very solid Tekiah blast for us this year!"

The Hon. Mathew Guy MP, Leader of the Opposition said, "It is always a pleasure to meet with Rabbinical Council of Victoria to discuss what is happening in the Jewish community and to put my Shofar playing skills to the test.”

“I join my Coalition colleagues in wishing the Jewish community a happy and healthy New Year.”

David Southwick MP, the Member for Caulfield added, “The Jewish community has a strong friend in Matthew Guy and the Coalition, and I echo the Leader of the Opposition in wishing everyone Shana Tova.”

Also in attendance were RCV committee members Rabbi Philip Heilbrunn OAM, Rabbi Ralph Genende, Rabbi Moshe Kahn and Rabbi Elisha Greenbaum, together with past RCV President, Rabbi Yaakov Glasman.
