Addictions Professional Development Session

The RCV rabbis and rebbetzins attended a learning session on Drugs and Alcohol Abuse and Addiction in the Melbourne Jewish Community focusing on the Rabbi’s and Rebbetzin’s unique position to help.

The training included an education component presented by Addiction Medicine physician, Dr Naham (Jack) Warhaft and an up close and personal presentation by a former addict.

Mr. Ivan Szer & Rabbi Velly Slavin, Founders and Directors of “Jews in Recovery”, a Melbourne based Jewish Recovery Community, where recovering addicts meet for support, guidance, spirituality and friendship then presented tools and resources to assist community members suffering from addiction in addition to tools and resources to assist families with a family member suffering from addiction.
