6 Iyar 5780
The Rabbinical Council of Victoria recently held an online memorial service for the four Victoria police officers who lost their lives during active duty.
The service included words of reflection by Rabbi Moshe Kahn and members of Parliament, David Southwick and Nina Taylor. Rabbi Danny Mirvis recited Psalm 23 and Rabbi Shmuel Karnowsky, a police chaplain, recited the Police Prayer. Sergeant Rowan Epstein, Chairperson of the Victoria Police Jewish Network lit four candles in memory of the fallen officers. President of the RCV, Rabbi Phillip Heilbrunn concluded the ceremony with some words and song of Chizuk (strength).
Rabbi Daniel Rabin, also a police chaplain and Immediate Past President of the RCV, said the ceremony was a small way in which the Jewish community could show our sincere thanks and appreciation for all the members of Victoria Police. We are grateful for their dedication and hard work and their willingness to put their lives on the line for our safety.
